Walking along 18th Street north of Smith Circle, we first found an upmarket embassy district with magnificent mansions, then suddenly found ourselves in a colorful Spanish neighborhood with unusual shops, art and above all, restaurants, bars and jazz clubs. The photos will show you that not all the houses in Washington are white!
