Athinas Street Market

This market is not for sensitive people, who do not like to see blood and dead animals in butchers. This Athinas street market is the great market hall of Athens and was formerly a general market, but now is the main meat and fish. The meat is hung in position, full, awaiting customers to come and ask for a piece. The market opens early in the morning, about 6:30 or 7 pm and usually closes in the early afternoon. Athinas Street also has dozens of small shops that sell nuts, spices and grain in large bags of 50 kilos. Meat and fish are in the covered market and you can hear from afar the shouts of vendors, probably saying that their product is the best and the cheapest of the hundreds available there.
