Av. Visconte Guedes Teixeira

Avenue Visconte Guedes Teixeira is the main artery of the city, beginning at Largo de Camoes (opposite the old episcopal palace and the Cathedral) and ending at the steps of the Shrine of Remedies. It's a wide, paved boulevard, the central area is a beautiful landscaped walkway. It's crossed by a grove of lawn, flowers, small hedges in geometric patterns, water features (including the Cochicho Fountain) and benches. At the junction with Avenida 5 de Outubro there's a roundabout with the Monument to the Unknown Soldier. The tourist information office is also here.
