This is the largest and most important university to be found in Romania. It has its origins in the founding of a Jesuit college in the 16th Century. After various vicissitudes and historical events that have taken place since then, the current Babeş-Bolyai University is the result of a merger between the Romanian Babeş University and Hungarian Bolyai University in 1959. It offers more than a hundred degrees in different languages: Romanian, Hungarian, German and English. It has 21 different faculties, which are spread throughout the city (economic, sociology, theology, biology, geography, economics, physics, chemistry, psychology, political science, etc.).
