1 review of Birkhill Fireclay Mine

Guided tour

This used to be a train station in Bo'ness, and is now a museum. Currently, the old diesel and steam trains are in use to take sightseers to the fireclay mine in Birkhill. This mine is next to the River Avon. There is a guided tour and the mine itself could kind of be compared to the mining museum in Asturias (except that in this case the mine is real). I've been there twice and both were very interesting. They have several old trains that are used depending on the day and time. They also organize special events throughout the year. There's more info on the website.
