El Restaurante Bizcocho Plaza is the younger sibling of the famous restaurant El Bizcocho in Trujillo.
It has two dining rooms, one overlooking the Plaza Mayor and the other in the back that is much cuter and quieter. It serves Extremeño cuisine with a focus on seasonal products, things like Castellana soup, red beans with blood sausage, flame-roasted suckling lamb, and sirloin with foie in raspberry sauce. They also have a large wine cellar.
The Plaza de Trujillo has several restaurants that should be on your list, and the Bizcocho is one of them.
If you can, make sure to ask for the second dining room in the back. It’s a lot cooler, more charming, and you’ll probably be more comfortable.
The owner is a consummate profession and his service will undoubtedly be great. He is also a wiz when it comes to wine and knows all the winery owners personally.
The food, though, is excellent and representative of the region’s most traditional dishes: Iberian ham, meat, cheese, and Extremeño tarts. I’m sure you’ll enjoy a lovely meal.
