Sixteenth century stone cross
This walk in the northwest of the city, is between the Arco da Porta Nova and Torre do Postigo, on the hill known as Alto da Cividade. There are I to V century AD Roman ruins (this was a residential area of the Roman Bracara Augusta). The landscaped avenue runs along the Rua do Matadouro and both sides of the walk have numerous trees and benches. One of the most striking elements is the sixteenth century stone cross at the center, consisting of a tall decorated stem topped with a cross and seated on a staircase.
