Countless waterfalls and hiking trails

My arrival at the Oneonta Gorge in the Columbia River Gorge natural area was a rainy one. The area itself has countless waterfalls and hiking trails and is incredibly beautiful. It is a true a Garden of Eden rainforest. My hike into this beautiful gorge, however, was not an easy one. First, the trail runs along a cold stream, so it was cold and wet. However, it discourage me one bit from visiting this area for the first time. After all, I had been lured across the entire country by travel photos of the Columbia River Gorge. In short, my sense of adventure was piqued.

Next, I had to scale a twenty foot fallen log into the Oneonta Gorge. It was very slippery and there was hardly anything to grab on to. One bad step and my trip would be over! As I crawled along with my forty-pound bag of camera gear, I remember thinking that I should have gotten some insurance before I came!

Breathtaking scenery at every turn

The Columbia is the river that separates the states of Washington and Oregon in Northwest United States of America. This particular area is already relatively close to the mouth of the river. It's an environment of overwhelming beauty with immense forests, there're waterfalls everywhere and breathtaking scenery at every turn.
