Casa da Music Mirandesa

In the forecourt of the Castle I found this building, which was annexed to a tower that looked like an old water tank which is visible from all over the city. The inside houses the Casa de la Música Mirandesa and the New Opportunities Center (NOC). The organization aims to revive traditional music like Mirandesa, which is unique and mainly uses instruments like the Mirandesa bagpipes, pastoral flute, hurdy-gurdy, war chest, shells of Santiago, castanets, tambourine, etc. The song lyrics are in the Mirandese language, which is the second national language of Portugal, and is a mix of Portuguese and Spanish.
