Castro Laboreiro Castle

This castle is located on the highest peak of a mountain, 300 m. over the Vila de Castro Laboreiro (Portugal), about 1030 meters above the sea. It is in the mountains of PN Peneda Geres, at the border of the Alto Minho and along the Camino de Santiago Braga which passes through Lobios and Entrimo to Santiago. It is one of the most iconic military monuments in Portuguese military history. It consists of two sets of Romanesque style terraced walls. It's worth the visit because, from its strategic position and height, there are great views of the rivers, mountain villages and valleys of the Peneda Geres National Park, named a UNESCO World Heritage Site.
