The main cathedral

This Savona Cathedral is one of the main buildings in the city. It was built between 1589 and 1605 by the order of Pope Sixtus IV on the site of the old cathedral of San Francisco. The paintings inside are an important addition. Admission is free. Next to the cathedral is the Sistine Chapel, which was named by the Rome that was built by the same pope, Sixtus IV. Both are the only two chapels in the world of this type. Spectacular.
