Place Charles II

Place Charles II is the birthplace of the strength of Charleroi, and it's also where the basilica of San Cristobal was founded in 1801, and the Hall in 1936, which was a monumental work of architects Joseph André and Jules César, blending classical and art deco. Beside the watchtower is a 70-meter tower with carillon with 47 bells, a World Heritage Site by UNESCO. The city is decorated in so sumptuous Art Deco, with marble, copper, rich woodwork, sculptures and tapestries.
