Charles Madsen Memorial

Charles Madsen was one of the pioneers of bear hunting on Kodiak Island. Charles emigrated from Denmark and worked as a fur trader in Alaska and Siberia before moving to Kodiak at the beginning of the last century. His brother Alf presented a statue of a grizzly to the city. It is located in the port.
