Cleopatra's Spring

The best known spring in the vast oasis of Siwa, perhaps because it is the most accessible and close to the city. They built a pool, with giant steps to get to the fresh water and a system of canals for irrigation. You can swim, and the water is very clean (you can see the bottom), but it's better if there's no audience. I found some young people playing and the guide (the guy with the donkey cart) told me I better not bathe (or dress). There is a rustic cafe, with torches for the night, it was very cool but I found it to be closed on Friday (Muslim holiday). It is near the ruins of the Temple of Umm Obayd.
