Congregation of Our Lady of Charity

In the parish of St. Maria Maggiore, facing the old convent of San Benito, is the Congregation of Charity. Although it's currently a nursing home it was formerly a female convent of the Benedictine order. It's a very large neoclassical building of the sixteenth century surrounded by gardens. It has a Manueline tower, a roof and some areas of the inner cloister are preserved. The church was rebuilt in Baroque style in the eighteenth century.
