Cala Macarelleta

Menorca is an island that I’m passionate about.
I don’t think twice about spending a part of my summer there (if I have the time) and spend hours in the incredible coves. Macarella is one of the most beautiful, as well as Macallereta.

It’s complicated to access because there’s a maximum number of visitors per day and also because the walk from the parking lot is long. But, none of this really matters, it’s well worth it.

I like to go to Macarella and walk until I reach the other smaller cove. Sometimes, I make this trip wading through the water, or even swimming, since it’s not that far. The crystal-clear water let you see the reflection of the sailboats off in the distance.

A few kilometers to the East of Son Saura beach and the Es Talaier cove, the path that goes through the precios town of Sant Joan of Missa a series of coves that look like they’re taken out of dreams appear. Turquete cove is the first; then Macarella cove. From there, you can go walking along a solitary path where you can smell the fresh pine towards the beach. They’ve also created a path for cars to get to the same beach.

It’s great, but the only problem is that it’s overpopulated in summer, although the families with kids are thankful for that. I find it fun to go on a mini excursion form Macarella to the paradise that is Macarelleta cove.

It’s not necessary to go any futher to find a place with more charm and enchantment than this one. Menorca is an island where you can find a paradise like this full of magical nature.

The contrast between the turquoise sea with the green trees and bushes that surround it is amazing, the murmur of the waves and the sea breeze, the feeling of sitting down and feeling insignificant amongst these marvels of nature and the safety of being able to spend countless hours there reflecting, relaxing and taking in the sights.
