Delphi Stadium

Delphi Stadium is located about a kilometer from the Sanctuary of Apollo. It is surrounded by mountains and is very striking and dramatic. It is the best preserved stadium in Greece. The soil is sandy and it is surrounded by the old stands, which are well preserved. Its dimensions are spectacular and it is very easy to imagine what it was like to watch competitions here, similar to movies like Ben-Hur or Gladiator. If you can, sit in the stands and stay a while enjoying the monument, it's also worth it because the surrounding mountains offer wonderful shade. The Olympic Games were held here every four years.
