Diving in Bacalar

Bacalar is considered to be a "magical town" by the Federal Government of Mexico. There are two places that were considered sacred by the original settlers - the Maya. One of these is the Cenote Azul, which is a traditionally place to dive in the region. Cenote Azul was sacred to the ancients and is still sacred today. All those who wish to get into their Depth Charges must keep respect as it is a real challenge - only a few can pass through the waters that were considered to be the gateway to the underworld. The main feature of this cenote is that it is open. You must dive in specialized equipment that requires training advanced but it will leave you wanting to return.
