Hieizan Enryaku-ji Temple

This is the most important temple on the sacred Mount Hiei zan, founded 1300 years ago by the Tendai Buddhist monks. In fact, it's not just a temple, but a complex of several. The most interesting building is the Kondon Chudo, with carved images of Buddha, but there are also smaller satellite buildings and the main temple, with beautiful statues. According to legend, the main building's lanterns have never dimmed since the initial construction (13 centuries ago).
