Traditions and arts of fishermen

The Municipal Museum of Ethnography and History of Póvoa de Varzim is in an eighteenth century emblazoned building known as Solar dos Carneiros (its owner was Manuel Carneiro da Grã Magriço). It was classified in 1985 as Property of Public Interest and the museum was founded in 1937 by António dos Santos Graça. It shows the traditions and arts of fishermen, farmers and scenes of daily life of the locals. There are also sections on archaeological, sacred art (sculpture, painting, ex-votos), photography, furniture, textiles, toys, etc. It's open daily (except Mondays and holidays) 10-12.30 and 14.30-17.30,
