Festas Gualterianas

The Gualterianas are the most significant festivals of the city of Guimarães and are held during the 1st week of August in honor of St. Gualter (patron saint of the city). What caught my attention was the lighting of the city, thousands of small colored lights adorned the streets, monuments and even the gardens of the central squares of the city. The loveliest image was that of the gardens of Long Avenue Republic of Brazil with the Church of San Gualter the background. Among the most notable of these parties are the San Gualter procession Sunday, horse racing, floral carpets, concerts and festivals, fashion show at Largo da Oliveira, historical parade with horse carriages, fireworks, craft market, bullfights, livestock fair ...
