unique experience in nature

This famous alpine route joins the Austrian states of Salzburg and Kärnten and goes through Alpenhauptkamm. This 48 kilometer alpine route makes its way from Bruck in Salzachtal, through the so-called Hochtor Step towards Heiligenblut to reach the highest peak in Austria, the Grossglockner (3,798 m). With 36 corners and a maximum ascent of 2504 meters, this route offers a unique experience in nature. Only open at the start of May and end of October.

Obligatory Stop

Excellent

On the way on the first European Alpine Road, you come to Edelweiss Spitze, which offers a beautiful panoramic view of the Austrian Alps. To get here you have to pass a toll call Grossglockner pass. The tour of the road is also very nice, where you have to climb up stunning cliffs. The port has been built for tourism and it has numerous viewpoints, shops and picnic areas throughout the climb. Right here at Edelweiss Spitze, there is a little restaurant serving hot chocolate with rum that makes you warm to continue the road to Franz Joseph - Hohe.

A Magical Moment on the Alpine Highway of Glossglockner

It was one of the best days of our trip. We were on the spectacular road to Grossglockner in Austria to get to the panoramic view so we could see the country's largest mountain: Glossglockner. It stands at almost 3800 meters tall. When we reached our destination the scenery left us speechless. It was dusk, the clouds fell on the peaks and there was only the sound of wind. A man watched the spectacle thoughtfully, without moving, in a perfect balance between mountains, clouds and two tourist telescopes that nobody was using. I had the photo I wanted in front of me and I took the opportunity to take it.

Grossglockner Road

This is one of our favorite spots in Austria. It's a spectacular place, one of the most beautiful scenic roads in the world. Mountains, lakes, glaciers ...quite a spectacle for the senses.

Grossglockner

This spectacular road, the highest in Europe, is about 40 kilometers long. I stayed here last year in early September, and shortly after the snow fall started and it made an appearance in the shoulders of the road. Wonderful views of the Alps, and the Grossglockner glacier. Stop every hundred yards to take pictures.
