    The Historic Coalson Plantation was a cotton plantation during the Civil War, but the property was transformed into a hunting resort by the new owner, Howard Melville Hanna.

    The swimming pool of the Showboat Theatre was added to the property. It boasts the Melrose Suite, Regal Winnstead Suite, and the romantic Hibernia Cottage. The hotel mixes the romantic charm of the past with the amenities of today, with an indoor swimming pool, tennis court and gym.
