Hostel Berggasthaus Herzogstand

This lodge is reasonably priced and sits alongside a lovely lake and close to the historic village which houses the Franz Marc Museum. When I got there the whole hostel was booked by a school group aged about 7 or 8. The style is rustic and is a family hostel with shared showers which are fairly clean. As the previous night I was sleeping in the open, it was luxury for me. Being objective, I guess the best thing is the amount of green space and peace around and that the lake is within walking distance. The surrounding road has a couple of charming spots to take a rest. If you travel by bike, the area is ideal because it has an amazing network of bike lanes, surprising considering the cold and rainy weather they have.
