Jardim da República

The Jardim da República is one of the most iconic city parks and next to it are several important buildings: the Town Hall, the Fountain O Lamego, the Igreja das Chagas and Casa dos Pinheiros da Aragão. The park is rectangular and because of the gap between the streets that define it on one side it has a staircase to access it, lined with typical blue and white tiles. It has walking trails, tours of a grove, benches to rest (some made of stone and tiled), lawns dotted with beds of flowers, a bandstand, a central fountain and the monument to Fausto Guedes.
