A Military and Defensive Town

It is in the middle of a narrow valley and adjacent to a 4km-long lake. Its shores are lined with trees and shrubs that give a sense of calm and quiet. The Penthièvre stronghold dates back to the days of the Dukes of Brittany. Like many villages in the area, it was a military and defensive town for feudal lords in each historical period. Today it has the luxurious hotel Sevoy, in what used to be the main castle. Its many granite mansions, are decorated with colourful windows and lanterns line the streets, narrow roads and maritime motifs make it one of the largest villages showing off the 'mariners soul' inside Britain.
