World of possibilities

You have to visit the Lavradores Market in Madeira's capital, Funchal. Whether it's the festival of colors with its spectacular flowers or for the opportunity to try an incredible variety of tropical fruits with exotic flavors, or to walk along the benches is an experience. Smells, colors and flavors ... It's all there. Do not hesitate to try dried fruit such as mango, papaya and coconut on the 1st floor. For amateurs to photography, this market has a WORLD of possibilities!

With the precision of a surgeon.

I have a weakness for the fishmongers and a market as I see, there I go to take pictures. From the carnage, no. I think all the same. Rosy. Instead, the fish are colors, textures, sizes, brightness scales and especially dance. When a good pescater @, we prepared a fish, his hands move with the precision of a surgeon, but faster. There is an unwritten complicity between his knife and fish. And so I went. Rather, I went down, because it is a wise spend the basement to the fish, since it affects less heat from outside. One thing was obvious: All auction is a great fish. No signs of ownership. On top of long, narrow granite tables, rest tuna, black sables, cod, squid, barnacles, etc.Cada owner has its own website, with a small gap respecting your neighbor. Shortage of customers, but did not stop one of the luxuries of sight. Two women buying tuna and I, as he does not want the thing, I went to enjoy the show. With a large knife and in the blink of an eye, was the tuna, chopped and wrapped in paper. It may seem normal, but seeing the size of tuna ...

What colors!

Especially the view is met, but also the taste buds will not be disappointed. The largest market on the island stretches over three levels and is divided by areas. The fish market is located on the ground floor. There are fresh fish of all kinds and different "waterfalls" espada fish (the fish spatula), which is the typical dish of the island, served with banana, then there is the department of the flowers and numerous shops of lace typical Madeiran and wicker baskets and other souvenirs. But the stalls that I have most affected are those of the fruit. Many pyramids, arranged so geometrically perfect, side by side, with all the more vivid colors of tropical fruit and not. Can not miss the opportunity of tasting!

Flowers, fruits and fish of madeira

The Funchal Farmers Market is a must see if you travel to Madeira. Well, it is not ... but it should be. On Fridays and Saturdays throughout the world approaches the Farmers market vendors creating a microcosm of regional costumes, needy villagers of flowers, fruit and fish or curious like me, we have been attracted by this colorful bustle. Upstairs vegetables, spices and tropical fruits (many of them would not know name them) are sold; on the ground floor and meat and fish at the entrance have aromatic flower stalls.

A color market

This colorful market is the most famous in all that this kind on the island, a type of market that grew up around selling flowers that grew all kinds of products, especially root crops, vegetables and lots of fruit In an adjacent tropical nave, is also the fish market, where you can see some really spectacular pieces. And the tropical fruit and fishing are the main culinary attractions of the island. An almost essential visit for those who want to get a general idea of the Madeira Islands.

Fresh produce full color

The farmers market of Funchal is the place to shop in full color. It is place of acquiring local and foreign, although the former will seek to acquire their goods on the first floor and not the second, more 'to touristy' as you indicate any honest inhabitant of the island of Madeira. In it you will find fresh fish and above all, lots of fruits and vegetables. And flowers, there are flowers everywhere, creciditas or as seeds ideal to comfortably plant and once you get home. It is an authentic and fun, perfect for interfering in the day-to-day city life. Sign fearless but not think to buy, not even charge for looking.
