Levantamento Chapel

This small, hexagonal chapel is part of the series of chapels that make up the Sacred Way (or Way of the Cross) on Mount Espinho, and is on Terreiro of Moses esplanade, on the top of the steps. Inside there's a life-size carving depicting the raising of the Cross on Good Friday by Roman soldiers. Several characters appear who are appalled at the scene as well as the 2 thieves who were crucified with Jesus. Behind is the Virgin (Our Lady of Tears), Mary Magdalene and St. John, among others.
