Restaurante Meson Los Cantos

Valverde de los Arroyos is a town with 97 inhabitants, so this is one of the few restaurants in town.

A young married couple owns it (which you can read before going and you can check upon arriving) that decided to restore the typical black slate house of the town and convert it to a cozy restaurant. The restaurant is charming and you can enjoy traditional dishes from the area and other home-style recipes.

We ordered farmyard eggs with delicious croquettes as appetizers. The croquettes were very similar to how my mom makes them, I don’t know who stole the recipe from who. We had lamb chops for the second dish. They were great but one chop was over cooked. Just in case, ask to have the meat cooked medium rare. We had cheesecake for desert. Delicious.

Located behind the church in a restored old house. The restaurant is on the second floor. The first floor is a bar.

You can eat from the menu in the restaurant, or have tapas and appetizers at the bar. The croquettes and the grilled meats are their main dishes, as well as the ribs. The lamb chops with potatoes are a great option to order.

We ate at this restaurant on March 18th. We made reservations the previous day, seeing as it’s a small town and only has two restaurants. The cozy dining room upstairs is small but has a great atmosphere. The working are all kind and the food is great.

We had some country eggs with french fries and a mix of meats with fried chorizo, fried bacon, and blood sausage. Everyone was delicious. Afterwards, we had chops and steak -- everything was very, very, very good. We had some wine with dinner. We just asked for two teas for desert, as we were stuffed from dinner. The bill cost 59 Euros.
