Meteora

Meteora has been one of the most amazing places I have visited. When you first drive up and start seeing these peaks, you are like "cool" then when you start getting closer and start realizing that there are structures at the tops then you start questioning how is that possible.

As you get closer you begin to wonder how in the world this was done, it is ridiculous how they were able to build these monasteries at the top of these peaks such a long time ago. It had to be aliens!! The monasteries all vary in size, but all have in common the amazingness of unbelievable architecture, intertwined with nature and marvelous engineering.

The Meteora as the Greeks call them, are a must when in Greece, like Delphi, they are on the mainland, about 6 hours from Athens if you catch one of the public transport buses. A private car is needed if you want to see all the monasteries in one day, you also have to consider opening times. Be especially careful with the heat if you go in summer but they are worth the visit.

Meteora is an unexpected jewel, standing in front of the ridges looking at how the monasteries are barely staying up there is one of my favorite experiences. Truly an amazing place to visit. Very lucky to have been.
