Monument to Dr. David Alves

If you walk into the Marques de Pombal Square you'll find a tourist office. The first thing we saw was the monument that's dedicated to Dr. David Alves. It is a bronze sculpture representing him and he's seated on the edge of a large fountain-pond. The statue was conducted by Margarida Santos in 1999, and it is intended to pay tribute to the mayor who contributed greatly to the city's urban projection in the late nineteenth and early twentieth centuries.
