Pay tribute to the deceased povoans

This completely granite monument consists of a square base placed on some steps, which share four round columns supporting a kind of cone. Designed in 1933 by Rogério Azevedo, it was built by local stonemasons. It aims to pay tribute to the deceased povoans during WWI. Initially the monument was placed in the Plaza de Almada, but in 1944, it was moved to its present location in the Marques de Pombal, opposite the Municipal Market.
