We got to Mumtaz on recommendation from our landlady and she didn't do us wrong. Mumtaz, first of all, is like a palace. Arches, wall-mirrors, columns: a true gem. They serve pints of Cobra and delicious Indian cuisine thats not too spicy but not dumbed down either. I recommed getting one of the two tasting menus (we got both!) which give you a tandoori mixed grill, tikka masala, naan, basmati rice, spicy Indian meatballs, and a selection of curried veggies. And for a relatively good deal, by London standards at least. It's not the most authentic or daring Indian restaurant around, but if you're looking for soul-warming food, a few pints, and some good laughs with your friends in an unstuffy establishment, Mumtaz is the place!
