Catalan Pyrenees Regional Natural Park

This is a magical place in the Pyrenees, full of history, art, and world heritage. Plus, it is most unique for its scenery. It is a great spot to enjoy nature. The Park features three nature reserves with amazing beauty and the most identifying which is "groc The train" or "train jeune": the yellow train, which runs from end to end the miles that define the boundaries of this singular place. With a strong Catalan character and landmarks such as the Canigou, or the fortifications of Vauban declared world heritage, this area of ​​southern France is for lovers of pure nature, for ardent fans of history, the art and culture.

When I crossed the border at Pas de la Casa, I found the Regional Natural Park of the Catalan Pyrenees which extends over 138,000 hectares in the region of Cerdanya, Capcir and Haut-Conflent of the demarcation of the Pyrenees Orientales. It has 64 municipalities, is home to 21,000 inhabitants and has 7 Nature Reserves. This is the first French Regional Natural Park of the Sierra Pyrenees. Traversed from end to end by the yellow train from 1910, it travels the 62 km from Villefranche-de-Conflent and Latour-de-Carol, the park has few other parts including 12 ski resorts and 2 spas. The mountains of the Eastern Pyrenees have rich flora and fauna, mountain features contact the Mediterranean climate.
