Neamt Monastery

Neamt Monastery is the oldest monastery within Moldova and Cetatea Neamtului (Neamt Fortress) and it was important as it was a key-point for the defense of the area. A little further west is the Mount Durau and the ski resort that is named the same. It contains the oldest monastic library of Romania that dates back to the nineteenth century and is governed only by nuns.

Another monastery with a different style, Byzantine elements has an interesting museum safeguarding the crown of Stephen the Great, ancient gospels and different elements of the eighteenth-century masses, even press of that era.
