Here the Leonardo DiCaprio film La Playa (The Beach) was filmed, and the site was not chosen by chance. Most islands in Thailand are breathtakingly beautiful, but after visiting many, this is even more surprising. Maya Bay is a small bay of turquoise water that comes from a small channel, forming a lagoon between two ridges where at night you can see plankton glowing. It's protected and no construction is allowed, but you can spend the night in a tent or under a ceiling of amazing stars. Simply spectacular.
