Queensboro Bridge

This is another big bridge linking Manhattan with other neighborhoods. Specifically, the Queensboro northeastern connects Manhattan and Long Island, passing over Roosevelt Island over the East River. It is located on 59th Street (hence many also know it as the 59th Street Bridge). This bridge is a mass of stone and iron and was begun in 1903 but not completed until 1959. It houses Highway 25 and has a total of 10 lanes. Its length is over a mile and just parallel to it on the north side lies the Roosevelt Island cable car. It is neither the most famous bridge nor the prettiest, but it is a good place to see good views of the skyscrapers.

If New York has anything, it's bridges. I suppose that you don't have any choice if you live on an island! The Queensboro Bridge is exclusively for pedestrians so you don't need a car to cross and enjoy the great views.
