Recife Museum of the Train Central Station

4 reviews of Recife Museum of the Train Central Station

History of trains in Brazil

Recife Central Station was opened in 1888, and until 1972 took traveller to Limoeiro. Since then it's been the Train Museum of Recife, with old locomotives houses and expository material related to trains. I spent a good time looking at old photos, train drivers' uniforms, lighting and communication systems, maintenance equipment, and diesel locomotives, electric and steam. As in Principe Pio in Madrid, part of the station is used by the Metro.
