Found along the route of Jesuit missions in northern Argentina and Paraguay, declared a World Heritage Site in 1993, the ruins of Trinidad are the ones that are in better condition, being the largest. Built in 1706 it was a completely self-sufficient city; with a central square, large church, school, workshops and factories, a museum and several houses for Indians.
