Saint Benedict Chapel

On the way to find the Cathedral of Saint Benedict Chapel, on the corner of S. Bento and Joaquim Maria de Melo streets, in the historic center, we found a small chapel. It has a single nave and a rectangular, asymmetrical facade that was very simple, our attention was only drawn to the small bell tower on the left side of the door and the shield of its founders. Inside, the altar is baroque and houses in its center the carving of San Benito (Benedict) surrounded by oil paintings. The chapel was commissioned in the seventeenth century by Manuel Barbosa and his wife, who are in the tombs on the chapel
