Beautiful views over the lake

When you look at the volcanoes surrounding the beautiful Lake Atitlan, from Panajachel or Solola, the volcano that you see at the bottom, and in almost all photos of the lake is the San Pedro volcano. It's next to a little town called San Pedro la Laguna, and local travel agents organize hikes to the volcano. Normally on foot or on horseback, with a guide. The old guide books say it's too dangerous to climb, because the guides warned thieves what time they'd be there. But that was 10 years ago, and it's quite safe now. If you'd rather leave your camera in the hotel, do so, and go with 20 or 30 Quetzales just in case.
