The sculpture of the Five Goats is the symbol of Guangzhou because, more than anything, it forms a part of the legend of the formation of the city as we know it. According to tradition thousands of years ago, Guangzhou was a dry and barren land with a population that, despite the hard work, suffered from hunger and disease, until one day, five geniuses appeared in five colored suits mounted on five goats and playing a legendary song to provide rice to the entire population from their mouths, blessing the city.
