Senhor Dos Aflitos

The Capela do Senhor dos Aflitos is west of the city (outside the historical center), near a bridge over the river Fervença. It was built in the late eighteenth/early nineteenth centuries, although it was reformed due to a fire in the twentieth century. It has a single nave, topped with a semicircular apse, the main altar is dominated by the image of a crucifix, but the inside is all new. Most notable are the typical Portuguese tiles that line the main façade preserved from its primitive construction. The exterior has a niche in one of its walls and stone cross on the front.
