Moon Awaiting Mountain

Ginkaku-ji or the silver pavilion is the twin of Kinkaku-ji or the golden pavilion. This pavilion simpler and less lavish but the surrounding gardens are spectacular. On entering the complex the center point in the flawless dry sand garden. There is a perfectly symmetrical cone representing Mt Fuji and known as the Moon Viewing Platform surrounded by an immaculately raked sea of silver quartz grains. This is contrasted against the verdant moss garden, mirrored surface of the pond and borrowed landscape of the surrounding woodland. Surely best viewed in the moonlight.

SIlver Temple

Go first thing in the morning to avoid people and enjoy the tranquility. We arrived at the gates of the temple Ginkaku-ji after going up a beautiful street full of shops that were beginning to open, known as the Silver Pavilion, it was created in 1489 based on the model of the Kinkaku-ji Temple, there are wonderful gardens and wooded trails that make this temple a must see in the city of Kyoto ... and if it is morning and almost no people it is even better .. it is truly unforgettable.
