Head of the Popular University

This Mudejar style convent was built in the fifteenth century, during the time of the Catholic Kings, on the ancient settlement of an Arab mosque. The name was given because of the devotion that Queen Isabella had for this Virgin. The convent has gone through several uses, one of them being to "house of the people", so in the time of the Republic it was saved from destruction (like other religious monuments). Since 1985 is has been used for exhibitions and cultural events. It has ethnographic and archaeological rooms and is also host to the Popular University. Visiting hours are Monday to Friday
