St Mary's Collegiate Church

1 review of St Mary's Collegiate Church

This place was built approximately in the 14th Century

Excellent

This place was built approximately in the 14th Century. The cathedral was finished with a Perpendicular Gothic style. In medieval times the role of the church was very important, because it had educational functions besides the ecclesiastical. It is important to remember that in medieval times Haddington was the 4th most important diocese in the country. It was run by Dominican and Cistercian monks. Today, the church is one of the main attractions of the town. Situated on the river and surrounded by gardens, cemetery and other things, it is a great place for visitors.
