Buffalo Bill Cody Statue

2 reviews of Buffalo Bill Cody Statue

A famous westerner

The statue of Buffalo Bill is located in the town of Cody, Wyoming. The city was founded in 1896 by William Frederic Cody (better known as Buffalo Bill). This statue can be found at the bottom of the main street of Cody right next to the Buffalo Bill Historical Center, honoring the most famous man in the history of the Wild West. Born in Iowa in 1846, he moved to Kansas as a young man where, in 1863, he enlisted in the 7th Cavalry to participate in the American Civil War. He received his famous nickname after 1868, when he won a bison hunting race. In the following years, having killed hundreds of bison, he became an actor after a friend wrote stories about his deeds and asked him to perform in them.
