Tassili N\' N\'ajjer

The name of this monument means "river plateau". Tassili is a mountainous area in the Sahara desert and is protected because it's rich in natural resources and archaeology. There are more than 15,000 samples of rock paintings and engravings from the Neolithic period. These engravings, besides being a legacy of prehistoric man, are also a kind of testimony, for they hold records of climate change, human evolution, animal migrations, etc. In other words, these paintings reflect ancient man in daily life, evolution and beliefs. A look at this place is like a trip back in time to the prehistoric era.
