    Charismatic hotel

    The charismatic hotel was built in 1920 at the beginning of the legendary Michigan Avenue, on the mythical Magnificent Mile. This old Italian-style hotel was inspired by Italian villas and palaces and is located next to the beach on the lake and the immense John Hancock Tower. The interior is quite luxurious. It was built by two brothers,John and Tracy Drake. The Drake Hotel was highly acclaimed from the beginning, but its rise to fame was due to the popularity of radio programs. It was Chicago's first hotel to provide air conditioning in all rooms and also the first to have color TVs.
