Symbol of the city

The Duomo of Milan is a famous Gothic cathedral that's a true symbol of this city. This impressively large temple, among the largest in the world, was built during many artistic eras but I'd like to make a special mention of its famous stained glass windows which bend the light in six colors, as well as its six naves and endless columns.

It is not known exactly who was responsible for their design and construction, but they stained glass windows of the Duomo are equally as famous as those of the Notre Dame de Paris and the Saint-Chapelle. When you go to Milan, be sure to observe the wonderful atmosphere they create!.

The pinnacles and spires that adorn the wonderful and colorful roof of Milan's Duomo are also incredibly beautiful. You can visit the roof and walk among the statues, gargoyles and decorative ornaments. The highest point of the exterior of the temple is the Madonnina, created by the sculptor Giuseppe Perego in 1774. The view of Milan from the roof is absolutely breathtaking!

Imposing

Little can be said of the cathedral of Milan that is not said, but is impressive. It is known as Il Duomo, from the Latin word Domus Dei, which means House of God. It's a huge Gothic cathedral is in the city center, is the largest cathedrals with space for more than 40,000 people inside. In this same place was the Basilica of St. Ambrose from the V century, and in 836 was added the Basilica of Santa Tecla. In 1075 these buildings were destroyed by fire and in 1386 began construction of the Duomo which was not completed until 1813 when the facade was completed following the request of Napoleon Bonaparte chose this church to be crowned king of Italy. The interior of the cathedral has 52 pillars with five ships, one central and two lateral on each side, stand the presbytery, Pellegrini altars, sarcophagi different. Outside on the highest peak of their needles to 108.50 meters tall golden highlights Madonnina, symbol of protection and lighting of the city.

Imponente

A spectacular experience

This cathedral is known as the Duomo di Milano, built over a long period beginning in the fourteenth century. This imposing Gothic cathedral consists of brick covered with marble. Its height reaches about 157 meters and you can visit both inside their roofs. For the latter, it is enough to go to the sides of the building to climb stairs, you have to go to outer wing parallel to the building Vittorio Emannuelle II, while elevator to go up, you have to go to the opposite wing. Walking through the roof of the Cathedral can be a spectacular experience, not to have a nice view, since Milano does not have a very beautiful urban plan, but a spectacular view of the towering forest of pinnacles. The interior of the cathedral is free, and can be accessed very early. It really pays to join.

True works of art carved in wood

True gems that remain dark wood, almost in a corner of the cathedral, perhaps no one stops to admire the art that appears to the naked eye. The confessionals in the Cathedral of Milan, just nothing is written about them, but remain unchanged over time. Is it because we are so busy as before ?, or we have come to see them as mere objects already obsolete? Its Gothic style blends perfectly with the cathedral, with its pinnacles, gables and niches. Looks like estroban because they remain aligned to one side of the ship; Some, very few, one or two, still show a sign indicating the language in which confessions are made. How many secrets keep these relics? What in many languages?

Miln's Cathedral (Italian: Duomo di Milano) is a gtica homnima cathedral located in the city. It is the episcopal seat of the Archidicesis Miln. Is 157 meters long and can accommodate 40,000 people inside. It is one of the churches of worship catlico largest in the world, and the windows of the choir have the reputation of being the largest known. The city map with streets Miln emerging as radio or circundndolo Duomo reveals that ste and constitua the center of the city in Antiquity, called Mediolanum. The Basilica of St. Ambrose was built on this site at the beginning of V century, added in 836 sindole one next scheduled basilica. When the fire gives both buildings were replaced in 1075 by the Duomo. The terrace on the top of the cathedral occupies virtually the entire roof surface and provides the opportunity to walk through the hills while the beautiful views of the city below. Also interesting is the vision of pinculos and sculptures rooftop nearby. You can access the terrace on foot, using some pretty dressers stairs as using the lift, which is necessary to pay.

Sites of interest.

The Duomo in Milan. It is one of the most reconoscibles the capital of Lombardy. Its architecture and image makes it attractive for tourists to approach there. Looking to Santa Maria Nascente (the name of the cathedral) to the left are the galleries or via Emmanuele II. The best shops and dressmakers are there. There are also restaurants but is prohibitive eat there (unless you want to pay q 60 euros on average). Between the Duomo and the galleries there is a street where all shops are. Zara, H & M, and other clothing stores "casual" are there one after another. It is a paradise for shopaholics. My advice is to walk. Walking and discover sites in the neighborhood of fig, for example, which is similar to terminal or malasaña but Italian style. The only problem of the Lombard capital is its traffic chaos, poor communication of public transport, taxis are expensive and that the streets do not follow an order and is easy to get lost and disoriented. Although it is a city worth visiting

The duomo roof view

Who's going to know that Milan is not much tourist spot. The most imposing and beautiful is the principal church of the city, the Duomo. Inside is not as beautiful as the outside, but the coolest part is the roof that point. For those who do not know, you can climb on the roof and be fine sculptures near the beautiful architecture of the church. To climb has the option to go elevator or walk up the stairs. The elevator is a little more expensive, but the ladder is much more interesting. It costs 6 euros and is not really that loud. The corridor is quite narrow yes, every stone ... very cool. Upstairs the best views of the city and the possibility of seeing all very closely all státuas that compose the building. It's amazing!

A vista do telhado do duomo

The're seeing show ...

The watching you peek through the Corso Vittorio Emanuele II, and when you get to the square and see this Gothic cathedral understand why it took to build about 430 years. The truth is that many of the cathedrals I've seen are wasted compared to this giant rock. We could not get due to time but the truth is that I would have liked to see and feel the sense of spaciousness inside with these gigantic constructions. It's in the same square as the Galleria Vittorio Emanuele and is well connected both to reach by metro, bus or tram.

One of the most impressive buildings in milan

Getting to this point is felt in the city center of Milan, a large open area allows us to contemplate the magnificent neoclassical buildings that line it, being the most attractive and predominantly "Duomo di Milano" as they call the Italians. It is an exquisite attractive with a myriad of details that renders words, cross it out lets explore some steps sculptures and works of great value, but upon entering, we see that the nave also shares the details of the exterior, with large columns that will deliver a phenomenal spatiality to the temple. See if you're lucky enough to be able to join visit, as not always open, and if it is, it should make great lines to see it from inside.

Inside the duomo of miln

Some buildings are iconic, when watching them on metaphor, imagine such as inside, but you never know what you are getting. The Duomo of Milan is great when you look imposing and white, in the center of Milan, but when you get close and you begin to see the details understand because it is so admired. I was lucky to enter and view the uncrowded corners, but I won the lottery when no longer a student choir began to sing, just use your voice coupled with perfect acoustics of the building. Very exciting, moments like this are what make an unforgettable trip.

Unrepeatable

Il Duomo in Milan is pure art: from the exterior decoration, both facades and in the main doors to the interior, which impresses the height of their ships and the color of the stained glass, among many other elements. And certainly one of the biggest attractions of this place are its terraces. Totally worth neglecting the lift, whenever possible, to feel the rapid movement up all the stone steps to the terraces. From above all views are appreciated and Milan feels something special to behold, once you've reached the roof, the Madonnina blessing the city from the top of the tower.

Experiencia irrepetible

It is chilling! Beautiful, beautiful, beautiful! Just watch out it's been a pretty amazing for the eyes, but when you enter and see the beauty of the church in the Gothic style, you simply do not want to get out of there! The statue of St. Bartholomew scalped espetácuklo is a part, and if you like to pray, do not let go of the Mass, it is open to the public and ralizada a separate wing where you can see some more beautiful works of Italian art.

É de arrepiar!! Linda, linda, linda!
